The United States and the whole world have encountered so many pandemics and epidemics in the past decades,and survived all of them with vaccines, medications and compliance.

And these include typhoid fever, SARS,Smallpox, Yellow fever, Spanish fever, Polio viral disease, Scarlet fever to name a few .Also the Cholera outbreak. Cholera is usually localized in areas where there are poor sanitation and contamination of human excrement and foods.

PANDEMIC

PAN means completely, all.

DEMIC means interbreeding of organisms in a large population.

So Pandemic is a global virus infection or disease in large population.If a virus infection spread all over the world it is known as PANDEMIC. Examples of these are

Spanish flu of 1918 and 1919 started in Spain and spread around the world. 2009 H1N1 Pandemic influenza which started in USA and spread around the world. Coronavirus Pandemic outbreak of 2019.This started in WUHAN CHINA and spread quickly across the globe.So many people have died from this pandemic and millions are infected.

EPIDEMIC.

If the virus infection or disease spread in a community or region it is known as Epidemic.Examples Smallpox in 1600 that caused high fever, rashes,back pain and chills.

In 1793 was the yellow fever, Scarlet fever 1858 almost 95% of children were infected, typhoid fever.Polio virus that caused paralysis in 1916-1952,SARS (Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome) in 2003 to 2004,and Ebola of 2014 to 2016 in Guinea, Sierra Leone Liberia. Zika flu 2015 to 2016 started in Brazil and spread to South and North America to mention just a few.

ENDEMIC.

But if a particular region is notoriously know for a particular disease.It is known as Endemic.For example Malaria in Africa. And Chickenpox in America but chickenpox has since been eradicated from America.

Solutions include Social distancing 6feet apart,if you going out cover your face with mask properly ,wash your hands with soap and water frequently for 30seconds,use hand sanitizer frequently, sneeze into your elbow. Disinfect frequently used items such as door knobs, if you are sick stay home.Protect healthcare workers and provide PPE,testing, testing, contact tracing,.If that trip is not important stay home.While we wait for vaccines and medications for cure.We will continue to listen to our local representatives,State and the Federal government, Scientists,doctors, nurses, and researchers.
