AS A NEW NURSE,IS ANXIETY NORMAL?.

In every individual normal anxiety is okay in my own perspective. For example anxiety about a new job,job interview, examination,a new school. This anxiety occur because there is a stressor in front of you which might be the new job or school or anything. All you need to do is to pull yourself together, get organized ,go to bed on time,do not panic. In fact, I will advice you to have confidence and go for it.

But if you have problem with anxiety disorder that is you are anxious almost all the time .And you cannot spot the reason for your anxiety .You might need to seek professional help.Normal anxiety as a new nurse or a new nursing student is fine. Let me share my story.I was anxious as a new nurse, that I told my patient during my nursing clinical orientation.I said to her ,please ma,you are the first patient that I am giving insulin and I hope that I do not hurt you.She was a wonderful person. She replied you are doing great.I washed my hands wore my gloves, wiped her left lower abdomen with alcohol swabs, and gave the 2uints of insulin subQ.She replied ,this is the best shot that I have ever received. She gave me my confidence. And she went further to comment that you are caring and compassionate”. She made my day.It was over twenty six years ago. Occasional anxiety is normal. You have problem at work, fear of taking a test.Or you are anxious about getting married to arranged husband. That is normal. But when anxiety is not temporary, that is a serious problem.

So are you ready for your new adventure?.
