MOST CHALLENGING TIME FOR NURSES.

To Continue or Change.

2020 has been the most challenging year for everyone especially the health care professionals. Medical staff and nurses have to battle with COVID19, insufficient PPE,anxiety about taking COVID19 home to their love ones. This is a constant battle unless you decided to quit the profession. If you decided to quit what is next for you?.

SAFE CAREER OPTIONS. Working with COVID19 and none COVID19 patients. Millions of people have lost their jobs because of COVID19 PANDEMIC. And finding a new job is not easy at all.The possibility of a second waves is around the corner. So what do we do?.There are other problems before COVID19 PANDEMIC such as personal health, work place violence, trying to meet up patient expectations, nurse management expectations, perpetual short staffing and long hours of work. Some nurses are thinking of quitting nursing completely for in home jobs such as Coders, accountants, marketing, strategy development. Please before you make that important decisions. I will advise that you take a vacation rest, rest and take care of you first. Don’t hit that delete button. It is important to know that health care professionals are the most needed. And you can use your experiences to work as home health professionals, Telemedicine. Also you can work as per Diem nurse. There is a prediction that after COVID19 PANDEMIC, there will be higher demands for Nurse Practitioners, Physician assistants, travel nurses, nurse entrepreneurs, and contact tracers. So many jobs will be lost forever but not nursing jobs.People that stays home and work from home will continue to want to do so.

FINANCIAL CONSTRAINTS. COVID19 PANDEMIC created lots of pressure on nurses. Some nurses were let go because the hospitals could not afford to keep paying them. Some lost the bread winners of the family. Some nurses lost their lives due to PANDEMIC. The lost of love ones, the lost of your parents to COVID19. The lost of patients to COVID19. The PTSD will live with so many of us for years.

MENTAL AGONY in dealing with grieving of the lost love ones.As you look, you see his or her chair that he/she love sitting down on. Do you throw away the chair to erase the memories?.How do you cope?.According to USC slogans it says “Fight On “.

LOST OF NURSING JOBS: Like I said previously some nurses were let go and now they are rehiring some of them back. This is opportunity to find your niche.

Nursing is a great profession. Introduced by Florence Nightingale in 1860.And Nursing profession have been waxing strongly since then.

What good things can I say about the current situation?.

I will like to say that COVID19 PANDEMIC brought CALAMITIES this year 2020.It also brought out the heroic nature of nursing and what nurses do and who we are .For the first time nurses are publicly appreciated and recognized. There were so many incidents of nurses appreciation and recognition. For example ,I watched Jimmy Fallon recognized nurses and many others.I love watching his show. I cried because it was very emotional. We are no longer those morons that were portrayed in the 70s and 80s.Nurses are very knowledgeable, caring, compassionate, focused, well organized ,very loving with lots of sense of humor. We hope for a permanent solution to the end of COVID19 PANDEMIC, introductions to normalcy and new vaccines that will eradicate COVID19 PANDEMIC. Wear your masks. 2021 here we come strong and ready.
