TUBERCULOSIS PRECAUTIONARY MEASURES.(NURSING)

Please here are precautionary measures for TB:

1.Place all possible, Suspected or Confirmed cases of TB in Airborne Isolation precautions protocols. Put on your personal protective equipments which include your mask,eye goggle,gloves and gown when going into patient’s room. The PPE are placed in the anteroom. They are readily available in all the work stations for your use.

2.When a TB patient is discharged home or discontinued Isolation. You must have the approval from infection control department or infection disease doctor.

3.If you have to transport patient from his or her room for a procedure or discharge. Put a surgical mask on the patient.

4. Patient on TB drugs at home must have an initial GOTCH completed on admission.

5. If patient has initial GOTCH filed,must have discharge GOTCH filed and signed by SCHD. 6.If patient is on drugs therapy and has Cavity lesions, a positive MTB smears or culture. A GOTCH must be filed.

6.Do not remove patient from isolation without the approval of infection disease doctor in your establishment.

7.Patient discharge from the hospital requires approval of SCHD. Follow your facility policy and procedures. Please if you are not sure ask questions.
