It is very important to know the plans for Emergency management of fire and what to do.As soon as I get hired that is my number one priority.Know the evacuation route, fire alarm pull stations, and the fire extinguisher location in your unit or floor. MAPS of the EVACUATION Routes are posted in all the floors just by the elevator areas,the exit signs and throughout each department.
Please know the following:
1.Evacuation plans.
2.Fire Extinguisher.
3. The Fire Alarm.

Code Red= Fire.If you see a fire.You must RACE.
R= Rescue ( You move your patients and families out of the room.)
A=Must activate the alarm system. Pull the nearest fire alarm. Then dial the recommended number by your facility. For example 5555 or 444444,or 66666.Tell the operator :
A.Fire location,
B.Type of fire.
C. Size of fire.
D.Your name.
C=Confine the fire.( You do this by closing the doors ,windows, and cover the trash. )
Extinguish the fire .You can evacuate if it is safe to do so. Extinguish small fire it is safe to do so using the appropriate fire extinguisher.
HOW TO OPERATE THE FIRE EXTINGUISHER.
P = Pull the pin near the handle.
A= Aim the nozzle at the base of the fire.
S = Squeeze the handle.
S = Sweep the nozzle over the fire.
