HYPOGLYCEMIA AND HYPERGLYCEMIA. SIMPLY MEANS “LOW AND HIGH” BLOOD SUGAR.

HYPOGLYCEMIA SYMPTOMS(LOW BLOOD SUGAR):

Shaking, Sweating, Dizziness, Fast Heartbeat, Headache, Anxious, Hungry, Irritability, Impaired Vision, Weakness.

What Causes Hypoglycemia?.

1.Taking insulin injection or pills without food. 2. Too much diabetes medications.(Insulin humalog(Lispro)levemir,Glyburide,Glipizide)

What is the solution?.

Make sure that you have enough food ready on your table for you to eat before taking insulin or diabetes medications because the onset will be sudden.

If you find yourself in that situation drink a glass of milk or orange juice or sweet snacks. Recheck sugar in 30minutes.

If it happen frequently you might want to call your doctor to adjust your medications.

Follow the 15- 15 minute RULES of low blood sugar.

HYPERGLYCEMIA (HIGH BLOOD SUGAR)is the opposite of HYPOGLYCEMIA.

It is eating too much food with little insulin or diabetes medications.

1.Because your pancreas doesn’t produce enough insulin so the sugar(glucose)from the food you ate stays in your blood.

2.Little insulin.

3. Stress or sickness. So you need insulin to chase the sugar into your cells so that you can feel better or really good.

The signs and Symptoms will start gradually and might lead to Diabetic Coma.

Here are what you will experience :

Extremely thirsty, Hunger, Dry skin, Frequent urination, Decreased wound healing, Blurred Vision, Drowsiness.

If your blood sugar remains high like over 200mg/dl you might want to call your doctor. If your doctor is on vacation, you might want to go to urgent care or Emergency room. DON’T LET YOUR DIABETES TO BE EMERGENCY SITUATION. BE YOUR OWN ADVOCATE.
