NONSELECTIVE DEBRIDEMENT TYPE OF WOUND TREATMENT.

Mechanical Debridement: External forces that is great enough to separate or break adhesive forces of necrotic tissues. This can be painful. Methods of mechanical debridement include: 1.Whirlpool: A nonselective form of debridement.

Wet to dry dressing.

Scrubbing and irrigation.

Nonselective can be painful. Contraindications:

Epithelization wound and granulating wounds.

Safe irrigation pressure should range from 3 to 15 psi.Beyond 15 psi causes trauma to the wound and drives bacteria deeper into the skin.

Sharp debridement removal of necrotic devitalized tissues by sharp instrument.

It is the nonselective fastest method of debridement.

Contraindications:

Bleeding disorders.

Ischemic wound.
