● Wash your hands with soap and water.

●Dry your hands and all fingers. And keep your fingers warm.

●Prick the side of your finger. It is okay to use any finger.

●Follow the instructions on your meter.

Squeeze out blood.

● Apply blood as directed to the stripe ,already attached to the meter.

Write down your result.

●Wash your hands, discard the strip,put your meter away, and wash your hands again.

Remove the insulin from the frige 30minutes before drawing insulin.

When you are ready roll the insulin vial in your palm several times.

Wipe the top of the vial with alcohol.

Have your insulin vial upside-down.

Get your insulin syringe ready draw equal amount of air into the insulin syringe to the amount of insulin to be given.

Inject the air into the vial before drawing out your insulin.

Then draw out your insulin. Wipe the pinch-up site before giving yourself insulin. Rotate your site. The lower abdomen is good for better absorption.

Follow your doctor orders.
