VOLUNTEER POSITION IN THE HOSPITAL.

As you graduate from college as a nurse without experience you can volunteer while waiting to get employed. I thought that volunteering will give me nursing experience that I needed to work as a Nurse. I was wrong but I got the exposure and some experience.

Here Are your DON’T AS A Volunteer.

1.There must be no physical contact with patient without nursing staff supervision.

2. Do not give foods or snacks or drinks, or water to NPO patients.

3.Do not transport patient with IV or IV medications.

4.Do not adminster any forms of medications to patients.

5.No therapy or Dressing change to any patient.

Responsibilities of Volunteers Are As Follows:

1.Assist with passing foods to patients.

2.Assist and remove food trays after patients have finished eating.

3.Take patients under 200lbs to Radiology department for Xray, CT scan or MRI.

4.Assist patients with letter 🔡writing ✍.

5.Walk and talk with patients.

6.Answer call lights and report to the nursing staff.

7. Provide patients with ice or ice water.

8.Record intake and output.

9.Understand your limitations and follow the instructions and what you’re assigned to do and just do it.

10.Assist with making occupied and none occupied beds.

11.Assist with taking discharged patients to their car.

12.Make photocopies if asked to do so.

13.Take specimens to the laboratory.

15.Assist in keeping the kitchen and Nursing stations clean.

16.Do not get involved with nursing gossip,see nothing and say nothing. Frequent gossip for example ” she does not belong here”.I don’t like her or we don’t like her.

Complete all requirements.

At the end of your volunteering you will receive a Certificate for your Volunteer service. Good luck. 👍
