DISCHARGE AGAINST MEDICAL ADVICE.

Do not discharge yourself against medical advice. Discharging yourself against the medical advice of your primary physician can be detrimental to your health and your safety. In otherwords you left the hospital without getting proper Discharge patient teachings, all the needed supplies and not understanding how to take care of yourself. Disadvantages of AMA or DAMA are as follows.

1.Frequent Flyers: You keeping going to emergency room frequently because you did not get it the first time so you came back hoping to get it but missed it again. The forces that made you leave the first time are still at war with you and you have not told yourself the truth.

2.Negative Health Issues : It has a negative impact in the sense that you’re not doing the right thing and your health will continue to deteriorate. You left AMA and did not get the needed patient teachings to take care of you.

3.Noncompliance with plan of care. You have returned from the hospital did not know where you kept your discharge instructions and you forgot to pick up and start to take your antibiotics.

4.Discharging against medical advice sometimes can lead to the death of the noncompliant patient.

5.Health promotion and disease prevention is often a music to the ears of noncompliance patients. They do not have enough time and money for health promotion and disease prevention. They come to the hospitals with so many health problems. This is a serious concern for so many doctors and nurses, patients going against medical advice. You hand patient over the DAMA form to sign, patient signs it for documentation purposes that does not mean that the primary care physician approved the discharge. Patient that discharged himself or herself with infected wound will end up coming back to the hospital with a complicated wound.
