- Communicate clear and precise information to your patients, patient families and colleagues.
- Poor communication or breakdown in communication can lead to medical errors.Communication should be in alignment for objectives to be met.
- Be in compliance with regulations and follow your facility protocol.Always say “NO” to any unethical issues or anything that is not in compliance with your facility protocol.
- Assume that all eyes are on you. And they are especially if you are in the minority. Nursing is seriously regulated and State board are ready to revoke or suspend your license. Always say it to yourself “not my license”. Remember to take your continuous education and renew your license every two years or as recommended by the licensing board agency.
- Do not rely on your co- workers. Some co- workers are backstabbers. Be careful of who you trust.
- Be careful with social media and watch what you say or display(post) on social media. Keep your social media activities private.
- Find your niche .Do not feel guilty and stay in same place when it did not favor you.
- Got your license ,protect your license. Know what you want and do the right thing.
- Please note that patient assignment sheet is a legal document. You are to document responsibly as a Registered nurse in patient sheet .( In patient records)Nurses make important decisions on a daily bases that can affect the well being of patients, and that includes proper documentation.
- Break Time. All RN should not go for break at the same time. It is important to have licensed RN on the floor all the time.
