Nurse appearance is very important.
Look clean and smell clean.
Provide Nurse to patient therapeutic communication.
Nurse to patient communication should be in alignment with patient needs.
Be attentive and listen to your patient.
Provide nonverbal therapeutic communication,
such as touching, talking, faciliting interactions,counseling and coaching.
Show empathy and compassion.
Show the patient and family that you are concerned about his or her health and the disease process.
Let patient know that you understand the changes,
in his or her health and the impact on their general health- well-being.
And you’re there to help.
Demonstrate competence in your role as a nurse,a caregiver, advocate and a teacher.
Establish trusting relationship with the patient.
Encourage patient to promote his or her health and to prevent disease.
Create environment for health restoration and promotion.
Motivate the patient to maximize his or her, efforts to develop self care abilities that will increase and support holistic health.
Respect your patient and family.
Do not be judgemental.
Remember that before hospitalization they have homes.
Respect patient privacy, encourage independence and support HIPPA.
Never give up on your patient.
If you’re not in alignment with your patient.
Notify your charge nurse to remedy the situation.
Carry with you your TLC(Tender loving care)and use it.
Encourage and support effective self care behaviors.
Do not be afraid to be a nurse or afraid of what is ahead of you.
Take a deep breath and meet your first patient.
