CHOLECYSTECTOMY! WHAT IS IT?.(Brief Summary)

It is the surgical removal of the gallbladder. T- tube is inserted for drainage from bile duct. COMPLICATIONS!.

Hemorrhage.

Pneumonia.

Thrombophleitis.

Urinary retention.

Ileus.

PREOP Nursing Responsibilities. Medication for pain .Dilaudid or demeral( Morphine sulfate is contraindicated causes spasms of sphincter of oddi) Follow doctor orders.

Nitroglycerin to relax smooth muscle.

NGT for decompression.

IVF.

Vital Q4hours and prn

POSTOP Nursing Responsibilities. Change patient position Q2hours.

Check breath sounds and vital signs Q4hours.

Monitor intake and output. Antiembolitic stockings to prevent DVT.

QUESTIONS.

1.As a nurse what will be your care plans for this patient?.

2.What is the importance of NGT?.
