QUESTION AND ANSWER ON ELIMINATION.

1.-Patient is admitted for intestinal obstruction. The doctor orders nasogastric tube inserted and connects to low intermittent suction. Two hours after the insertion of ngt, patient vomited 250ml of brownish liquid into the emesis basin.What will be the best action that the nurse should take?.

A.Observe the patient for pain.

B.Find out if patient has history of stomach ulcer.

C.Call the doctor to assess his patient. D.Irrigate the nasogastric tube to make sure that the tube is not obstructed.Use normal saline only for irrigation(Normal saline is Isotonic solution)Water is hypotonic solution.
