PAIN ASSESSMENT MY EXPERIENCE.

I have experienced severe pain recently and I felt terrible for my knee surgery. So I want to revisit pain assessment. Pain experience is unique to each person. If the nurse wants to actually understand levels of pain, she or he needs a Special Assessment Pain Tools that will assess all factors such as physiological, emotional, psychological and socialcultural.Due to the complexities of pain a reliable tool will be needed to make effective assessment and medicated correctly.

Why do we need Reliable Tools Assessment for pain?.

1.It is simply to eliminate biases and guess work when dealing with pain.

2.To be able to understand patient feelings and suffering from pain and provide adequate treatment to relieve pain and suffering.

3.It is important to use verbal and nonverbal methods for a comprehensive assessment of pain.

Some inexperience nurses will tend to ignore the patient pain thinking that it will go away. But it doesn’t go away without solutions .

QUESTIONS:

1. What are the characteristics of pain that is generally assessed?.

2.What is your level of pain?.

0 is no pain ,

2 to 3 is mild pain,

4 to 6 is moderate pain,

7 to 9 is severe pain

10 is that the pain is very bad.

As person having the pain I have authority over my pain level which makes pain subjective. My credibility is not on trial because I complain of pain.

Sometimes people can be emotional about pain that doesn’t mean that he or she is not in pain.

All pains are real no matter the cause of pain.

All pain has a component of physical or emotional causes.

If patient doesn’t complain of pain doesn’t mean that patient is not in pain.

After my knee surgery I was extremely happy to go home So when the nurse asked me if I am in pain I said no because I wanted to go home so bad.

Actually I have pain level was 5/10.

Toleramce of pain is individualized that is tolerance of pain depends on individual.
