What profession do you admire most and why?.#Dailywritingprompt.#Nursing.

This is a great question but before I jump into answering it.I have something to share.I hope that you don’t mind.There are so many profession that I admire such as Physicians,nurses,teachers, movie stars and entertainment.Each of these professions are good. Every job has its good and bad.

I recalled when I got a job in the kitchen at the hospital as a Kitchen Staff, I thought kitchen job is easy looking at all the heavy set people that worked there. Oh my God I was so wrong kitchen job is very tough. You have to be in line to pass the trays from one person to another making sure that you know the patient diagnosis if he or she is Diabetic you have to know the type of sugar to put on the tray.If the patient has hypertension 2gm sodium diet, you must do it correctly. After making sure that the trays condiments are correct, then what kind of drinks?.Water,soda,eggnog?.It is important that you move the trays to the Carts and push the carts into the elevator to different floors, entering each patient’s room with their tray, smiling and greetings to each patient. You go back to the kitchen to tidy up the kitchen and start planning for the next meals. Later on you will go back to the floors to pick up the carts and bring them back to the kitchen. Then you will send the dishes and trays to the washing machine. After washing the dishes and trays you bring them out and stack them up. It was a very difficult job with a miserable paycheck. With this job you will remain perpetually poor for life.

The physicians (doctor) main responsibilities are diagnoses of illnesses, medical or surgical treatment of those illnesses. They have the authority to admit a person to the hospital or health care settings of their choice to practice. They practice care within the settings that they are authorized. To be a doctor takes extensive education, clinical practice and passing the doctor licensing examination. I admire doctors because of their hardwork, respect attached to their names. What I detest about some doctors are their selfishness,arrogance they want to make money by delaying care at the expense of their patients.My knee surgery took almost two years before my primary care physician agreed that I should go for surgical treatment. He kept using conservative treatment such as going to Rheumatologist and blaming insurance company.I admire doctors but I love and admire nurses more.

I love nursing. Nursing is a great profession very flexible with different shifts. Nurses are very proud of their jobs, they are honest and with great sense of humor. Nurses carry out many difficult and different activities in different care settings. Nurses take care of others. Nurses carry out complicated technical procedures down to something as simple as holding patient hand. Nurses are more than just caregivers. They are well educated but not as educated as the doctors they are caring and compassionate.
