I have changed my mind on so many issues but the one that I remembered very well is when I applied for admission into three good universities for nursing and physician assistant, UCLA was my most favorite. But UCLA department of nursing was temporary closed. So I gained admission for nursing school in a different university for nursing. I spoke with two of my professors they supported me to go for Nursing program. I had a great GPA .All the schools were willing to accept me.And I am ready to go in graduate and get a job as soon as possible. I started the nursing program it was going great. One year into my program another university offered me admission to study Physician Assistant.
I thought about changing to Physician Assistant which I loved so much.I went and reviewed all the requirements for Physician Assistant program and I have less than two years to graduate from nursing school. Some of my colleagues advised me to go for PA but my head of department in the nursing program advised me to finish my nursing program. She was so important to me and I knew that she would not deceive me. She always meant well for me.So I fight on and graduated from nursing program but keeping wishing that I could have switched to Physician Assistant program.

The nursing program in the first year was very, very difficult. Some of my close study group changed their mind and left the program. I buried myself inside the nursing program. I have lost the opportunity for Physician Assistant since I have changed my mind on that.To graduate from nursing school is a task that must be accomplished.
ANYTHING THAT IS WORTH DOING AT ALL, IS WORTH DOING WELL.
The Registered nurse educational program lead to obtaining license as s Registered nurse.
There are three types of Registered nurse education.
A.Associate degree.
B.Diploma.
C.Baccalaureate program.
I choose the later.

I had a similar situation during my undergraduate years. I wanted to do chemical engineering, and that was one of the choices I had after passing a very tough entrance examination in one of the most prestigious universities in the far east. The other choice was biology. My mother said that chemical engineering “is for boys,” and as I was trying to be a good daughter, I followed her wishes. I did very well but was miserable. Until I could no longer take it, then my parents said I could change my course, but it had to be nursing. I accepted out of despair. I also did well, graduating with honours. I asked for support to get into med school, but only got scolded lol I also wish I had been more assertive. And I now regret not staying in that first uni and not shifting to molecular biology and biotechnology. My life would have taken a very different direction!
I, however, remained very restless over the years, feeling like there was something missing in my life. Then I found genomics, which to me is a new adventure!
In retrospect, I probably would not have had the same opportunities that I have now had I not got into nursing. On the contrary, there is also no way of telling where the other path would have led me.
But here I am, plodding along and just making the most of what’s on offer. At least, I don’t have to pay anything π I hope this cures my restlessness, then I get an MSc in genomics medicine at the end of it (and hopefully a PhD someday, who knows).
I would say, a blessing in disguise! Thank you for sharing your experience π

Thank you very much for sharing your experiences as well. I believe that you’re enjoying what you studied. Try to go in for PhD in the near future.I am thinking of DNP.

I will try. It is rather expensive, but I will find a way. Might need to stay part-time clinical, part-time PhD. Slow and steady wins the race, as the fable said π
Another option is to go for the scientist training programme, but this one is quite competitive. I can only try, though. Got to be in it to win it π
What is a DNP? Is that like an advanced nurse practitioner?
