What are the conditions that will tigger Diabetic Ketoacidosis in Type 1 diabetes patients?.

What is diabetes Ketoacidosis?.

Diabetes Ketoacidosis is a very serious complications of hyperglycemia due to the body production of too much acids known as ketones.( testing for ketones is done for ketones bodies by collection of urine samples and tested.It is a straightforward simple test)

In diabetes Ketoacidosis the body doesn’t have enough insulin.That is the body received less insulin than the body requires.Patient with diabetes Ketoacidosis are often admitted into icu and placed on insulin intravenously initially and are monitored by icu nurse.Later transferred to medical/ surgical when medically stable.

The conditions that will trigger diabetes Ketoacidosis are as follows:

1.Pneumonia: This is infection or inflammation of the lungs

2. urinary tract infections: Infection from any part of your urinary tract the kidneys, urethra, bladder.

3.Insufficient insulin therapy.

4.Other factors : These are :

A. High blood sugar level.

B.High fever.

C.Alcoholism.

D. Drug abuse such as cocaine. E.Emotional trauma.
