Regular exercise will increase blood circulation in all the body systems.I usually drink water before my exercise and after exercise.
This blood circulation will increase the blood flow to the kidneys.
The kidneys will be happy to do their job efficiently.
The kidneys in return will be more efficient maintaining body’s fluid and acid based balance.
The kidneys will properly and efficiently excrete body waste.
Effects of immobility on the kidneys.
If there is no regular exercise it predisposes the kidneys to develop kidney stones which is as a result of high level of calcium, incontinence because of decreased in bladder muscle tone, urinary retention.
This could lead to formation of alkaline urine, which could facilitate the growth of urinary bacteria and decreased urinary volume.
In a situation of patient without erection the kidneys and the ureters are on same level, the urine stays longer than normal in the kidneys before it get through the process against gravity for the urine transfer into ureters and bladder. When urine is not eliminated immediately as supposed it will encourage bacteria growth.
If there is enough quantity of urine it can lead to urinary tract infections.
Indwelling catheter, poor perinatal hygiene, incontinence, decrease in fluid intake all of these can lead to urinary tract infections.

What is a Urge incontinence?.
It is when a person experiences passage of urine as soon as he or she feels the urgency to go and urinate.I had a patient that had Urge incontinence as soon as she said that she wants to urinate, the urine is coming out immediately. I placed a bedside commode close to her but she couldn’t even sit on the bedside commode and the urine is already rushing down to the floor. Her underwear became wet and the floor was wet.It was not intentional she did not have control. I made appointment for her to see urologist.
She has history of hypertension and type 11 diabetes mellitus for twenty years.
Good article. I’ve had kidney stones for a couple of years, and yes, it seems exercise does help to pass them faster. Plus drinking lots of water.

Drinking adequate amount of fluid and exercise helps. If the stones cannot be passed there are specialized services provided to break down the stones and surgical procedures to eliminate the stones.
