Something on your “to-do list “that never gets done. #Dailywritingprompt.#Traveling #Visit #Familyfriend #Oregon.

Janelle was an old friend that I regarded as my mother. She was so dear to me.We went to church together. We would sit at their backyard while my children and her grandchildren looked for the Easter eggs. The sky was faded blue with some clouds . There was no sunshine.According to weather forecast there is 30% of rainfall on that day.

Later in the evening about  two decades ago we played Chase games on their table in their living room. Her husband often won the game. They were Caucasian American while myself and my husband were Nigeria American.

Procrastination is a very serious problem. And too much of Procrastination is very bad. We lived close to each other, attended the same church. They were much older than us. As time goes on they decided to sell their house in highland close to Pasadena,California and moved to Oregon.

So we promised to visit them (husband and wife) in Oregon but we never. Every year we would add it in our “to-do list ” but we never did it .Wecouldgofrom one excuse to another. We wantedto go during the long vacation time when the children were on vacation but we never did .It was either my husband canceled the visitor their daughter had one excuse or another.

We kept writing letters and making phone calls. As time goes on we got information that her husband passed on the previous year. The lettersstoppedcoming. Sowe planned again that we must visitbut never did.And her daughter advised us that her mom might not recognize us becauseshe had early dementia .

And we finally lost contact with Mary their daughter. It was a very painful and unforgettable situation for me.She is a tattoo that will remain in my heart.

In conclusion do your best to follow your instinct and don’t accept everything your partner or your friend said. I should have used my head.I don’t believe that Janelle is still alive. She was like a sweet great woman to me and my family. But unfortunately I allowed procrastination to take over my life.I am not sure if her daughter took her to live with her since she is in her late nineties and demented. God bless and keep her.
