What is the last thing you learned?.#Dailywritingprompt.#myhealth #nurses #wellness #patients #doctors.

One last thing that I have recently learned is that health is the greatest asset. And if you do not have your health you have nothing. Please learn this early on and not later in your life.

As nurses we do our best to take of others but what about yourself?.We communicate and exchange ideas ,information ,thoughts with other nurses, physical therapist the doctors, respiratory therapist about our patients .

Communication is an important process throught which changes is affecting nurses but how many of us(nurses) have sat down and thought about their own health.I am one of those who never stopped for one day to take care of myself inspite of all the signals from my body.

My leg is hurting while caring for others .Oh okay take motrin or tylenol or aleve. In thirty minutes the pain subsides and she continued. No time to sit down for thirty minutes break. Her situation gets worse but she is still working until it becomes impossible to continue.

By the time you have time to see the doctor sometimes they might diagnose you wrongly.Normally in health care system, the importance of diagnosis and treatment is seriously emphasized. And early detection will usually. help with the recovery.

The modern technology is now helping doctors to diagnose illnesses and treatment. In United Kingdom a nurse is sick but she did not want to disappoint her 86years old patient .So she went to work to take care of her patient.

As soon as she started taking care of her patient she slumped to the ground and died.I learned that my health is pricelesss and I need to take care of myself first before taking care of others.

According to Dorothea Orem on her theory of self care model which is based on the belief that every individual has a need for self care action .And that nurses can assist in meeting the need to maintain good health, well being and to maintain life.

This theory did not exclude nurses. But often we excluded ourselves.I never paid attention to myself until 2020 when COVID19 woke so many nurses up to take care of themselves.

It was too late since so many nurses gave their lives away to be in heaven leaving sorrowful hearts behind. The last thing that I learned is that health is everything.Without your health you got nothing.
